Tresswell State School was opened in 1971, on a property called 'Tresswell' and in 1974 the new building was erected in its present location and opened in March 1974. The school’s 40th birthday was celebrated in 2011.

The school building consists of a classroom, offices, library, art area, kitchen and kitchenette. The library, art area and kitchenette are all fitted with evaporative cooling. The classroom, offices and and kitchen are fitted with split system air conditioners.

We provide a safe and caring environment for all students which enhances their ability to learn academically and to develop their characters and thinking skills.

Although distances are great, community relationships are highly valued.

Location

Tresswell State School is a one teacher school that is located in the Fitzroy-Central West District of Education Queensland. The school is situated 60 kilometres, in a westerly direction from Springsure along the Dawson Developmental Road (Tambo Road).

The school lies in the heart of cattle grazing country 125 kilometres south-west of Emerald and just north of the Carnarvon Range. It is 56 kilometres west of Springsure and is the only building on the 245 kilometres of road stretching from Springsure to Tambo.

Students

The students who attend Tresswell State School all live on cattle properties and have the usual range of student abilities. Individual programs have been implemented as required and funds made available for special aide time to be allocated to these needs.

Students are encouraged to behave in a responsible and cooperative manner, respecting the rights and opinions of others, while still thinking independently. They are also encouraged to take pride in their school and community.
